NAK HAIR + AN INTERVIEW

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a NAK hair training. Their hair stylist and ambassador Kristy Lee told us all about NAK's visions, green chemistry and their products. I'm still so super excited to try out their products because they won't weigh your hair down and everyone will find the perfect products for their hair. Natural Australian Kulture's products are all about hair health, scalp health and our lifestyle so they're made to suit you no matter your lifestyle. The products are also sulphate and paraben free, which they have replaced with isolux - a natural compund that is a regenerating resource in our environment. I also did a little interview with Kristy after her presentation so scroll down to read it all (: Have you heard of NAK or used their products? What do you recommend to try?

Mõned nädalad tagasi, ühel reedel käisin NAK Hair juuksetoodete koolitusel. NAKist teadsin vaid niipalju, et kui ühel päeval I.L.U. poes juuksetoodete riiulite vahel seiklesin, tundsin kuidas telefon kotis vibreeris. Meilboksi potsatas NAK tootekoolituse kutse.

L: What do you think is the universal hair care routine that suits for everyone?
K: We always suggest with NAK products if you're using the prescribed products for your hair type, one shampoo is all it takes. So cleansing the hair should be taken part of either on a daily basis if you have an active lifestyle or on an every other day basis. When you're cleansing the hair, you're not only just cleaning the hair but you're continuing to grow the health of the scalp, which is where the hair's growing from. So it's all about nurturing that process. And then of course every time you're cleansing you must accompany with a conditioner. Part of the ritual is that there should always be a third step. So cleansing, conditioning and then moisturising, which would be a leave-in product of whatever their prescription would be. For example the Replends products would always be that third component.

L: Should I wash my hair more often if I use a lot of styling products?
K: Absolutely. If you're using a large amount of styling products we would always recommend an appropriate product to help remove that from the hair. That is part of what we call the Specialty line. And so that's something that you'd alternately use with your prescribed shampoo. So that might be that you only introduce that alternative product say once a week to make sure you're removing the residue and the buildup of any styling products. Which of course for anyone who's using a lot of styling products would understand how important it is to know that NAK styling products are water soluble so everything will remove from the hair with ease.

L: Why do we have to avoid sulphates and parabens what do they do to us?
K: So when we're working with sulphates and parabens, there is a global perception from the consumer that they are bad for us and that's because they have been linked to health concerns without any proof. Also in regards to sulphates, they are quite aggressive and drying on the scalp skin. They can make the scalp environment feel unnatural. Because our industry is hair, our products are for hair, we need optimum exceptional condition of the scalp health. So to remove those chemicals, deliver a higher level of health and that's what we want. We've chosen for the benefit of the growing community that want to avoid sulphates and parabens, to take away the fear. We're offering them a more natural approach, the Natural Australian Kulture, the culture of beautiful hair. We don't want to be recommending chemicals. So we go with green chemisty.

L: What is your favorite product in the line?
K: Oh, certainly Ultimate Treatment. I'ts the ultimate. I mean there is nothing that could top ultimate treatment. Because it's my lifestyle being busy and on the road all of the time, I need hair that is manageable, hair that will do what I want it to do when I want it to do it and hair that is glossy and healthy. And I need colour retention. So Ultimate Treatment delivers all that for me in one product. AND it only takes 60 seconds to get all of that. For me that is the one.

L: How does heat protection protect the hair?
K: If you were to spray it on your skin and then put heat, you wouldn't feel the effects of heat as much as you would if you didn't have it on there. But the heat will still be affecting it. There's no such thing as a thermal protective that will stop the heat damage. You can slow down the effects of the damage the same way as we apply sunscreen on our skin. It is deflecting the sun and the heat but it's not stopping it from to some degree damaging us. It's all about how much exposure we have. So thermal protections go on and they actually become part of the hair. They're strengthening the hair so that the hair can fight against the effects of the heat that you're putting on it. So it's not coating it, it's not putting a sealant on it that stops the heat from affecting it. It's making the fibres stronger so it can deal with the elements that you put toward it.

L: Is there a difference in which kind of brushes to use?
K: Oh I would always suggest a natural bristle. Or a soft bristle. So not plastic.

L: Okay, so how do you feel about the Tangle Teezer type of brushes?
K: I find that they're very suitable for the way they're recommended to be used - on wet hair. I wouldn't want to run that through my hair when it's dry. Having a natural bristle is going to be better for your scalp health. I know the tangle brushes are very popular, but it's only a wet brush, it should stay in the shower. You then need to have a natural bristle for afterwards. I wouldn't want to see that plastic go through dry hair. And you can't blow-dry with them because the plastic would melt. And a natural bristle brush would not only improve the health of your scalp but it will last you a lifetime. You can also maintain the quality of the brush by shampooing them and washing them with your NAK shampoo. I wash all of my makeup brushes and everything with my NAK shampoo as well. So again it's that lifestyle thing.

Ultimate Treatment mida Kristy intervjuus mainis oli ka minu väikeses kinkekotis mille kaasa sain. Hetkel sellel pikemalt ei peatu, aga ausalt, ma olen in love! Ma täietsi mõistan miks just see ta lemmiktoode on.
